QChord for the Visually Impaired Player (VIP)
We are excited and honored to present the VIP QChord Manual! The
author, Mrs. Jackie McBride, is uniquely qualified to develop these
instructions for the visually impaired person.
A lifelong music lover, Jackie played the autoharp before discovering
the Omnichord (which was basically an electronic autoharp) in 1982.
Since then she has owned and played several successively more sophisticated
models of the Omnichord. Now she has mastered the QChord, the Omnichord's
latest digital incarnation.
Jackie composes and records original material, performs as a volunteer
at nursing homes, and employs the QChord in music ministry. She
is a computer programmer, and is exploring the midi features of
the QChord. Jackie is also an active participant in our QClub
online discussion group, where she provides many valuable playing
tips for all QChord players.
Some of the QChord's digital features use LED's and indicator lights
for status. This can present a challenge for the visually impaired
player. Being blind herself, Jackie understands the challenge, and
demystifies these features with her clear, straightforward explanations
in her VIP QChord Manual entitled "Getting a Feel for the QChord".
Our heartfelt thanks to Jackie for developing these valuable instructions,
and making them available to our web site visitors.
